What makes this place special

A unique setting

Here, rare musical instruments are displayed inside a beautifully restored historic church: a setting as remarkable as the collection itself.

Church of San Maurizio

The restored neoclassical church provides a striking backdrop for the instruments on display. Three cellos stand before the lifelike sculptures of the high altar, surrounded by paintings from the school of Veronese.

Antonio Vivaldi

The museum also offers an introduction to the life and work of Antonio Vivaldi, Venice's most famous composer.

Rare string instruments

The collection spans around 300 years and showcases violins, cellos, mandolins, lyres, and other instruments from different regional schools of Italian craftsmanship.

Music Museum : Intricate ornamentation decorates the resonance box of this psaltery, which dates back to 1700

Hear the instruments in action

The perfect follow-up to the museum is to hear this musical tradition come alive at a concert.

Catch a classical performance at the nearby San Vidal, see costumed performers at Scuola Grande di San Teodoro, or visit Santa Maria della Pietà, the church also known as Vivaldi Church because of its close association with Venice's greatest composer.

Vivaldi Church : Finally, a chilling blue envelops the church, epitomizing the cold and austere beauty of winter

From Baroque and opera to jazz, Venice's live music scene has it all.
