Your experience here
Its breathtaking grand interiors showcase some of the most dramatic artworks in Venice.
Tintoretto: Venice’s 'Furious' master
Jacopo Robusti (1518–1594), best known as Tintoretto, was a prominent Italian Renaissance painter of the Venetian school.
His contemporaries were both impressed and unsettled by the speed of his execution and the boldness of his brushwork — so much so that he earned the nickname Il Furioso for his relentless energy.
His style is instantly recognizable: muscular figures, dramatic gestures, and daring use of perspective define much of his work.
While Tintoretto’s masterpieces can be found throughout Venice — from the Palazzo Ducale to the sacristy of Santa Maria della Salute — the most intimate setting for some of his finest paintings is also his final resting place: the breathtaking Madonna dell'Orto.
