What makes this place special
The last of its kind
Its long-awaited recognition as a Scuola Grande in 1767 was followed 30 years later by the fall of the Venetian Republic.
Art-filled spaces
Impressive paintings, gold-leaf stuccos and elaborate woodwork adorn the chapel, the capitular hall, the grand staircase and the three rooms: the archive, treasury and Sala dell'Albergo.
Celestial ceiling
Tiepolo's dramatic use of light and color in the nine vivid ceiling panels will offer you an uplifting visual experience.
Shades of grey
While most of Venice is filled with colorful art, the chapel houses unique grisaille paintings by Niccolò Bambini.

How everything is connected
The Scuole Grandi of Venice
Scattered across the city, these confraternity buildings are treasure troves of exquisite art in situ.
Gianbatista Tiepolo
His eclectic Rococo style brought him many commissions and you will encounter his luminous frescoes adorning the ceilings of many historical buildings of the city.
Giandomenico Tiepolo
Gianbatista's son built on his father's style but shifted towards realism.
The seamless integration of 18th-century Venetians into biblical scenes at the 14 Stations of the Cross in San Polo is a remarkable example of his work.
