What makes it special

Founded by the oldest confraternity

Venice's oldest brotherhood began around the 8th century, dedicated to the city's initial patron saint. When St. Mark replaced St. Theodor as patron in 828, the brotherhood dissolved, but it was revived at the adjacent San Salvador in 1258, preserving its centuries-old legacy.

Evening classical concerts

In the impressive upstairs Chapter Hall, I Musici Veneziani perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons and other Baroque masterpieces, dressed in authentic 18th-century attire.

But also opera

Alternatively, the show 'The Three Tenors' - inspired by Luciano Pavarotti's legendary concert with Domingo and Carreras - blends beloved Italian opera arias with Baroque compositions, creating a unique fusion of two rich musical traditions.

A pricey facade

Despite the scuola's considerable income and a loan from Scuola Grande San Rocco, the building remained unfinished until the 1600s, when a wealthy brother and merchant left such a generous sum to the confraternity that they were able to complete the Baroque facade and statues we see today.

Your experience here

  • Attend an evening performance to savor timeless music and be transported to the 18th century by the elaborate costumes.
  • Forget the present entirely, and wandering through Venice's quiet alleys afterward will only deepen that sense of timeless wonder.

Prepare for the concert

Concerts start at 8:30 pm and last about 75 minutes, with a 10-minute break in between; admission begins at 8:00 pm.

Seating tips

There are three seating categories: rows 1-3 are closest to the stage, followed by rows 4-12, and finally rows 13-22 at the back of the hall.

Between each category, there is usually a gap, making the first row of each a good choice for both visibility and extra legroom.

Since seating within each category isn't assigned when you purchase your ticket, we recommend arriving early to secure a good spot.

Sitting near the central aisle provides the best close-up view of the performers as they enter and exit the hall in full costume.
