The origins of glass
Though glass was known in the Middle East for millennia, the invention of glassblowing in the 1st century BCE revolutionized production and spread its use across the Roman Empire.
The golden era
By the 14th century, Venetian glass production was well established, but it was the invention of clear glass in Murano - transparent and completely pure - that cemented Venice's status as the premier center of glassmaking.
Collection
You can trace the full history of glass through 4,000 artistic objects made of different types of glass, such as iced glass, filigree and aventurine, including chandeliers, chalices, mirrors and the famed kaleidoscopic beads once traded worldwide.
Conterie space
This renovated industrial factory, with its open layout and 7-meter-high ceiling, now hosts rotating contemporary glass exhibitions accessible with the museum ticket.

The museum shop offers a curated selection of glass gifts, jewelry and art books.

Tickets can be purchased on site or booked online in advance.
While advance booking isn't usually necessary here, online tickets let you skip the ticket queue and head straight inside.

Alternatively, you can visit the museum with either the MUVE Museum Pass or the Venezia Unica Pass.
The MUVE Museum Pass includes entry to all of Venice's civic museums, including the Doge's Palace.
It is valid for six months from the date of purchase, and you can visit at any time without an advance reservation.
The Venezia Unica Pass includes all the benefits of the MUVE Museum Pass, while adding access to additional attractions across the city, such as Scuola Grande dei Carmini and Fondazione Querini Stampalia.
