Zattere

Sun-bathed waterfront on the south of Dorsoduro.

What makes it special

Former timber dock

Zattere is Italian for 'rafts'. It once served as a landing dock for rafts with timber, so vital for building Venetian ships and structures.

Church of Gesuati

Behind the grand Greek temple facade, you'll find a well-lit, aisleless nave adorned with elaborate frescoes and sculptures.

Local favorite for strolling

Especially on sunny afternoons, locals promenade the nearly 2 km stretch, sharing laughs, exchanging news and gossip and enjoying gelato. You may feel more like an observer than a participant, but that's all part of the experience.

Spectacular Sunsets

As sunset approaches, find the perfect spot by the water to enjoy an aperitivo, relaxed by the gentle flow of boats along the Giudecca Canal.
